No. SiftSpace is proprietary, closed-source software. It is free to use, but the source code is not published or licensed for copying, modifying, or redistributing.

You don't need to sign in for core scanning and cleanup. A free SiftSpace account unlocks daily scheduled scans, Cleanup History, Security Check, and Mac Monitoring. Signing in never gives us your files: file names, paths, and cleanup results stay on your Mac. Optional product news is a separate, unticked choice and never changes the features you can use.

Review each item before cleanup. SiftSpace shows its location and risk level, protects sensitive data and moves approved files to Finder Trash. Two confirmations show what will move and explain that emptying Trash is permanent. A risk label cannot determine whether you personally still need a file.

SiftSpace treats application packages as complete units and prevents generic cleanup from selecting their internal files. It protects recognized databases and their sidecars, virtual-machine disks, model files and sensitive locations such as keychains, Mail, Messages, SSH and cloud credentials. Review remains essential, particularly for project dependencies and generated build files that may need to be recreated.

SiftSpace uses bundled YARA-X rules to flag selected suspicious behaviours in high-risk launch points and selected locations. A match is a signal to review, not a malware verdict. It is detection-only: nothing is deleted automatically.

A read-only 0–100 posture audit covering disk encryption (FileVault), the firewall, Gatekeeper, System Integrity Protection, automatic updates, the lock screen, sharing services and risky startup items, each with a one-tap jump to the exact setting. A deeper scan adds pending security updates, unsigned apps, setuid binaries and library-injection persistence.

The permission audit reports entries it can read from macOS privacy records for Camera, Microphone, Screen Recording, Accessibility and Full Disk Access. Coverage depends on permissions and the macOS version. Unsigned software is a reason to review an app, not proof of spyware. Full Disk Access must be granted manually in System Settings.

Your files never do. Scanning, cleanup, and the security audit run on your device; no file names, paths, or results are uploaded. Optional product analytics contain only limited app metadata, and you can turn them off. Optional sign-in unlocks account features. Yes. Everything goes to the Trash, so you can restore it in Finder until you empty the bin. With a linked account, SiftSpace also keeps Cleanup History so you can review past cleanups inside the app. The uninstaller uses the same Trash-first safety model for apps and the files they leave behind.

SiftSpace is a native app for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 12 or newer. Version 0.1.26 is signed and notarized by Apple under Team ID 89JM9KPQ78. Each release is verified before publication.
