Privacy Policy

The short version

SiftSpace is a local macOS application. It reads and organizes files on your own computer so you can reclaim space. Your file contents, file names, paths, and cleanup results never leave your device. To run the app you sign in once with Google or GitHub; that gives us your account email and links this Mac to your account for licensing, updates, and support. We never sync, upload, or see your files.

What the app does on your device

To find reclaimable space, SiftSpace inspects file metadata (sizes, dates, paths) and, for duplicate detection, computes content hashes of candidate files. All of this processing is performed locally by the app and is held in a local database on your Mac so repeat scans are faster. You can clear that data at any time by removing the app's support folder.

What your account involves

When you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive the email address and account identifier from that provider, and we store a one-way hash of your install ID to link this Mac to your account. We use this for your license, product updates, account recovery, and support. SiftSpace also sends content-free product usage analytics (for example, that a scan ran), which can be linked to your account while you're signed in.

Product analytics and country reach

We collect only content-free product analytics such as app version, processor architecture, macOS major version, and a two-letter country inferred by Cloudflare at the network edge. We do not store your precise location, IP address, city, region, or browsing history. Product analytics are required to use SiftSpace and cannot be turned off.

Our internal dashboard shows country data only as aggregate download, install, and active device counts. It never shows a user's country alongside their account. A separate account directory is limited to the product owner for support, licensing, and operations; it shows only basic account and sign-in/activity information, never IP addresses, device identifiers, OAuth identifiers, or files.

What we never collect

• We never upload your files, file names, paths, or scan/cleanup results.
• We never sell or share your personal data.
• We do not embed third-party advertising or cross-site trackers in the app.

This website

This marketing site (siftspace.app) is a static site served through Cloudflare. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process limited technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver content securely and prevent abuse. We do not set advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Downloads & updates

When you download SiftSpace, your browser requests the installer from our content delivery network, which records standard server logs. The app itself may check for new versions; any such check transmits only the information needed to compare versions and never includes your file data.

Children

SiftSpace is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
